Hi 🙂
Some time ago, I installed Solus as a test drive, and the entire setup went smoothly. Today I downloaded the newest ISO 4.8 and tried to run it, but unfortunately, no matter which option I choose during boot, the environment freezes on a black screen with a cursor or just black screen. Everything seems to work; I can switch consoles and even log in normally, and I can use the terminal. The hardware I'm trying to install Solus on is a dual-processor ThinkStation C30 with an NVIDIA Quadro P4000.
The exact same USB drive on my X280 loads without any issues, and the installation proceeds normally, so it's not a faulty drive.
My daily driver is Debian, and it works perfectly on my system. I've also installed Fedora, and even exotics like CachyOS or OM, without any problems.
Could the latest version of Solus be incompatible with my BIOS/legacy system? Or could it be a lack of compatibility with the Quadro?
Cheers, Frank
Follow up:
I don't know how the Budgie ISO installer compares to others, but it turned out that the Gnome ISO booted normally, so I suspect that my hardware is not compatible with Budgie's requirements. It's a shame, because I wanted to try Solus, but not with Gnome or other DE's...
