No I haven't solved. Asked team for guidance a couple times y asking how I should proceed to recover Bugie. Nobody has gotten back to me. They have their hands full and I'm patient.

My biggest fear is self-wrecking Budgie if I rollback or reset panel. No one has told me to do that.
So Endeavour for now. It's a sound OS. It ain't Solus Budgie but it will do.

brent I agree. In my view, this is the ongoing risk of running a rolling distro.
Too many components + weekly updates = potential problems and breakage. Not enough time for testing.
For me, this is the biggest challenge, testing my faith in a rolling os.
Good to have another running os in parallel as a backup.

Sebastian But when I was configuring my Budgie panel today, I added many spacer applets to make panel look more nicely.
And as I was just adding another spacer applet, the Budgie desktop settings app crashed repeatedly when trying to add additional spacer. And the session crashed too once. So I removed all the spacers and no crash since.

I woulda said EUREKA here but I changed themes a couple weeks ago and got rid of the gaps in budgie task bar (removed spacers) but kept them between menu applet and time/date...interesting.

If you don't, then I will refer Buddies (in my bug report https://github.com/BuddiesOfBudgie/budgie-desktop/issues/766) to this thread where you and @penny-farthing have some interesting panel developments-maybe they need to know

Not surprising. Significant updates especially to the DE or systemd can cause this which is why some distros default to installing updates on reboot.

penny-farthing Another observation: although I use the Pocillo-dark style, the Discover window appeared with a white background; after this update, Discover now displays with a black background and a smaller font:

As was pointed out I added a patch to Discover from upstream which makes it obey dark theme on systems not using Plasma, this code is not due to be in a release for several months but since we are defaulting to Discover on Budgie and XFCE I figured not obeying dark theme was a significant issue that should be addressed sooner if possible.

Reality is it is highly unlikely that Qt apps will ever perfectly fit theming on gtk DE (Gnome, Budgie, XFCE) just as gtk apps don't on Plasma. From reading an issue a long time ago it seems Gnome devs are of the opinion that Qt apps should stand out as different... So as long as it obeys light/dark for these users, I am happy.

penny-farthing I would like to know if the arrival of Solseek (congratulations to Original-Syn) changes the choice of installing Discover on KDE Plasma, Budgie, and XFCE, and Gnome Software on Gnome? Or should we still keep Solseek and Discover/Gnome Software because they are complementary?

You can do whatever you want. But Discover or Gnome software will remain the OS provided defaults and recommendation. However it should be known that solseek does not currently have a notification mechanism to alert people of available updates.

This is why we test things in unstable before rolling them out to Polaris. For contrast, I've been running on unstable for a number of years now and rarely run into major bugs.

And, of course, the best way to make sure we have as little disruption as possible is to have more people testing with unstable. Everyone is welcome to test, if their situation allows. We welcome bug reports for bugs and packaging issues.

Updated 2 Budgie systems via eopkg as always, no major problems.

The biggest issue for me now I need to figure out how to set dark theme for qbittorrent back

my custom shortcuts are gone after update (known issue, easy to solve)
some keyring warnings when using chromium-based browsers and electron apps (known issue)

The only strange thing i encountered when updating is it went really fast and crazy
download speed. (like maybe twice or 3 times normal speed)
Of coarse besides the 2 issues I had.
When I did the package repair they downloaded at normal speed.
I havent updated my kde yet

brent If the *.xml file is missing, I described a fix to get eopkg working again. You just need to visit the Solus repository online and copy the path to the specific *.eopkg package (either my method or the script by @NigelGreenway below).
