When will eopkg be replaced by "sol"?

Hello everyone,

This question came to my mind especially after seeing the recent news about the restructuring of Solus repositories and the “A New Epoch Begins” update.

I’ve read some past discussions mentioning a possible future replacement of eopkg with a new package manager called “sol”.
I also saw older GitHub references to a project named sol, but it seems no longer available.

Is the plan to replace eopkg with sol still active, or has it been postponed/abandoned?
If it’s still in progress, is there any rough timeline or roadmap for this change?

sol was the plan. The current plan is for Solus to replace it with moss from AerynOS as we described in our blog. https://getsol.us/2023/04/18/a-new-voyage/

AerynOS tooling is under heavy development and not ready for adoption. There is no time frame / roadmap, it will be done when its ready and these sort of things do not happen quickly. In the meantime the team have continued to improve eopkg including moving it to python3 (It was python2).

In the end, it doesn't matter what it's called, as long as it works. Which, as we've proven, it does. 😉
