yewtube (yt) --help error

Was trying to check this app out but commands not accessible:

yt --help
Traceback (most recent call last):

How did you install yt? If you used the package from repo, the error is probably caused by an old yt script in ~/.local/bin (from mps-youtube). Remove it:
rm ~/.local/bin/yt
Or use the full path: /usr/bin/yt --help

Check which Python has priority by running: python -V && which python.
yt (mps-youtube) requires Python 2.7, so if python points to 2.7, try run it with:
python /usr/bin/yt --help

I just wanted to see how it was different than yt-dlp. another day. thank you for assisting. I have some broken things lately like this (fwupd on devtracker) so I will look forward to 4.8 🙂

its a python3 app and on Solus python = python2 so trying to force it to use python2 is only going to break it in new ways.

Harvey I have python3 installed (whenever I did it) via software center. so I need to edit a config file to get it to run? Is that the correct course to use it?

Everyone has python3 installed. I installed yewtube to test and it just works. So no idea what is wrong with yours.

Harvey me either. it was a straight install from the SC a couple months ago but I didn't try it out til today. Will troubleshoot some more. thanks for getting back.

of these three packages, only the middle one (pipx) is installed.

if pip proper at the top was ayt rundep and didn't get dragged in on install that would be such a Me thing to happen...so no pip is not installed

    Basic Usage

    Use / or . to prefix your search query.  e.g., /pink floyd

    Then, when results are shown:

        <number(s)> - play specified items, separated by commas.
                      e.g., 1-3,5 plays items 1, 2, 3 and 5.

        i <number> - view information on video <number>
        c <number> - view comments for video <number>
        d <number> - download video <number>
        r <number> - show videos related to video <number>
        u <number> - show videos uploaded by uploader of video <number>
        x <number> - copy item <number> url to clipboard. (See the note below)
        Note: This feature requires `pyperclip` which is installed automatically when you install yewtube but
        Linux users further need to install `xsel` or `xclip` manually using apt, dnf, pacman, zypper or whatever package manager yo ETC

Installed pip proper, rebooted, then behold a --help complete. I am made whole. Thank you both.

PS TO BOTH: if eopkg it didn't pull in pip on install (of yewtube) it must have been really certain I already had it installed? something like that?
