flatpak Freetube users - is it just me?

I've been about 20 days locked out of FT which is really unusual. 3-4 days is normal since FT DEVS and YT, INC play cat and mouse for years...

...but did YT finally kick Freetube's ass? I've never seen it dead this long. It's been over 2 weeks.

Patrice Its always there 🙂. As long as they fix it and youtube breaks it again, it will stay like this forever.
But this has been an alarming 2 weeks. I didn't realize how much I counted on it day to day.

I just deleted vacuum tube and went back to freetube a couple weeks ago

Axios some of my warning messages (see pic) sometimes say "IP Block" so I may intermittently be on YT's s**t-list.

I can view wirh yt-dlp and pipe the output to mpv/vlc...but I haven't figured out how to pick and choose. I need a GUI for that!

still over two weeks for me. never seen it like that. long thread over several months about it at endeavour forum.

@Axios VaccuumTube actually works but it's a peculiar animal. there's no back buttons or any buttons.
it's a pure front end (foss?) wrapper of youtube proper.
All right-click context menus are disabled and as a result, no youtube video clip address can by copy/pasted to use in yt-dlp.
that's gotta make YT happy.

Axios youtube does everything in it's power to sabotage freetube, then freetube fixes it, and this has gone back and forth for years.

In Solus it throws errors: the sandboxed flatpak can't be led to the binary in Solus. Too many errors.
...since this is a Flatpak-Trying-To-Communicate with Solus thing, an not a Solus thing, I may refrain from a seperate thread.
(--besides FT is fixed (for now 🙂 )

It worked for me.
Let me know if there any problems.

Pro-tip 🧙 :

You can also set cache size for mpv to cache the whole video (for better experience)
in mpv.conf:

cache=yes
demuxer-max-bytes=2000MiB

It will cache up to 2GB video! 🙂

will keep you in the loop. the command you set it to was flatpak -spawn as the player then /usr/bin/mpv and --host as the arguments and that did not work.

most of the thread assumes this is flatpak freetube trying to communicate with flatpak haruna and flatpak mpv and that is not my situation. but I can't be sure, some are not assuming that.

but 1000 variables in this thread--everybody threw their hat in the ring the way I like it.
the first one failed. I will keep trying tomorrow.

Install Flatseal and add org.freedesktop.Flatpak to it. It's not an error but warning that option was changed by the user.
You probably need to restart FreeTube after that.

Sure it can be done with flatpak command too. Flatseal is just user-friendly.

I know. I am not a Freetube user as it was very unreliable for me. But I use mpv + yt-dlp very often 🙂
