Disk Capacity Unknown?

Hello all-

I've noticed other distros having this problem too, but in this case I have Solus installed on a couple year old notebook. When I check out System Details in Gnome, the disk capacity is labeled as "unknown". The Disks gnome app also shows a blank. Is that a kernel level issue?...a simple bug?...a firmware issue?

Sticky On Plasma disk capacity shows up fine in Dolphin (select properties on root) and in KDE Partition Manager so not a kernel level issue.
Successfully booting from your install media and checking disk capacity from there might help you identify where the fault is. That's all I can suggest I'm afraid as I don't use Gnome.

Edit: Also try from terminal inxi -d Which should display information about your disk.

Thanks are all the tips on manually discovering your disk usage. Didn't know any of these terminal commands.

But the question I have is why does gnome settings not know about the disk, but gparted does?

guy named jake says try gnome-control-center --verbose system

so why doesn't the gnome front end see disk capacity? not updating my gnome laptop til tomorrow so cannot duplicate this yet. be interested if someone could corroborate.

couldn't find an issue here at forum. didn't check devtracker
according to ddg, search: "disk capacity unknown gnome settings linux" it's a very well known Gnome issue.
solved thru updates, funny handshakes, a ton of reasons and not fixed for a ton of reasons...surfing a little leads me to believe it's just a plain old fashioned bug. so known it's too much reading. but scanning about 12 threads don't really see any "ta-da" fixes at all.
