Heya folks! It's sync day, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup!
This week, enjoy a newly-released version of eopkg
! Version 4.3.0 contains systemd-inhibit
support, Zsh completions, usability improvements, general bugfixes, and more. This is another step towards modernization of Solus infrastructure and tooling, including the eventual removal of Python 2. Read the full changelog here. A huge thank you to those of you who have contributed translations to eopkg
! At the time of writing, Belgian Dutch, French, and Portuguese have been fully translated. Please continue to submit translations, and they'll be included in a future release of eopkg
. Note: The version of eopkg
being synced to 4.3.3; we found some regressions that had to be fixed before rolling it out to everyone. See the full releases page for details.
We have split the language packs for both Firefox and Thunderbird into separate packages (firefox-langpacks
and thunderbird-langpacks
). Functionally, this does not change anything for users, as the language packs are marked as dependencies for their respective program, and will be installed by default. The reason we are doing this is we're using a new script to get the language packs, and the new method makes the difference in package updates more noisy.
Our MATE desktop transition tool will now be installed by default on MATE systems. We have not offered a MATE edition for a couple of Solus releases now, and the package's days may be numbered. People still using MATE are encouraged to migrate to a different desktop environment. The transition tool gives you a choice between Budgie Desktop and Xfce.
Security updates
The Matrix client Nheko had a security update this week addressing multiple potential security issues. libarchive
has also been updated to fix several vulnerabilities.
General updates
The full list of updated packages can be found here.
For the list of currently known issues, see the dedicated thread for it. If you begin experiencing a bug, please look for an issue on our issue tracker, and open a new one if one does not exist.
That’s all for this week, folks! We'll be here same time, same place next week for another roundup of the news!
