Hello everyone! Apologies for the late publication, life gets in the way. Hopefully next edition will be ready on time as I will also recap the last four months (as promised!). Anyway, lets talk about what our contributors has been doing this past months and more.
Welcome to the ninth edition of Contributor Roundup!
In Case You Missed ...
What people has been doing
@sheepman4267 is taking lead in eopkg
improvements effort and preparing for version 4.3.0 release. We need help from the community to translate new strings added in this release. Read more about it here.
Several desktop enviroments, window manager and its component got updated. @ReillyBrogan updated KDE Plasma to 6.4.3, KDE Frameworks to 6.16.0, and the kernels (linux-current
to 6.15.6 and linux-lts
to6.12.37). @alfisya updated Gnome to version 48.3, @Harvey updated KDE Gear to 25.04.3 and @davidjharder continue to update (the-never-ending-release) Hyprland.
@EbonJaeger has been working on our new website. It still uses Hugo framework but this time we are using Hextra theme as a base instead our (jumbled mess) homegrown theme. This approach has been chosen to reduce our maintenance burden.

@joebonrichie and @ReillyBrogan has also been busy with AerynOS developments. You can read about more about AerynOS progress development on their mastodon. @Original-Syn has been helping staffs investigating about setting LUKS2 (instead of LUKS1) by default on Calamares installer, if encryption option is chosen. On the other note, we are also gearing up for new ISO release and as always no ETA(s).

Solus Cleanup Crew
There is not much activity this month. Hopefully it gets better next month. Here are the tasks that still need to be done and their progress:
Contribute?
We need help updating localization for eopkg
. If you see that your native language is not translated, head over to Transifex and help us do it.
We are looking for help with web development, especially someone with Hugo experience. Here are a few open issues that are good for either newcomers or experienced:
Try one of these issues, you would surprised on how easy it is! If you do want to try, these are the basic steps to contribute to Solus:
- Join the Solus Packaging Room and Development Room on Matrix
- Read and practice our documentation
- Submit your first Pull Request. We recommend doing any of the issues labeled as "Good first issue" in the respective repository.
- Follow the review process until your PR gets merged.
- Don't hesitate to ask any questions in our Matrix rooms.
- Congratulations on your first contribution!
- Keep on contributing.
Funding
Your financial contributions make all of this possible. If you have the spare funds, we offer perks on our Open Collective page. Here are the number of people that support us regularly (at the time of writing):
- 7 people in Crew tier, +0
- 37 people in Release Testers tier, -3
