Axios Yup as iso

I've started Pt 1 of my Convert Whole Video Collection to ISO. I have a down and dirty command. and it took me a while to investigate how to make it high quality. I watched the first 10 minutes of lo and high quality iso of same movie (in vlc since no one plays isos either).

OBSERVATION: high quality beats the crap out of the low. Cost of high-quality ISO is about 30 minutes. Expected finish time. 2029 🙂 I have finished one movie today...

BuzzPCSOS Equally, relying on a video streaming service to serve up all those classic favourites from a few decades ago is decidedly less predictable than a box full of VHS videos. As a consumer you must consume what is served up to you but not necessarily what you want, you are at the mercy of your streaming providers. So I stay in my time capsule with my music and movies neatly stored on a disc drive with a USB plug on it.

the exact reason I stay in that time-capsule sweet spot if I can. "what is served to you not what you want." not if I can help it 🙂. I appreciate your memory lane sentiments--they seem familiar!

brent Ya after an evening of it appears Vlc is the go to if you want stuff to work.

the mpc is snazzy--a windows throwback look. man there is no shortage of movie players with linux 🙂

PS--I downloaded the official skins.zip package for VLC since I never liked VLC's looks but it's mostly amateur hour skins so I went back to the original.

Ogle they said was the go to back in the day but its no longer developed it would do menus and all.
go figure.

Note: Kaffeine works on menus with the arrows only and reads iso (prob the one I will use)

VLC is unattractive . tried to give it a facelift yesterday but it made it worse.

congrats you found one native. now if would just run. In that other post put your terminal output in there. saw no issues at devtracker

Axios One of the first things that I tend to do with any media player is to set it for full screen playback. If I'm watching media then that will be all I want to see, no fancy decorations.
Trivia. Every branch of VLC (shift & F1) is given a characters name from Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld Series since Version 1.1. Currently it is displaying Vetinari. It has also had branches named Twoflower, Weatherwax, The Luggage, and of course Terry Pratchett. A great tribute to a great author.

I found a few skins for Vlc that I think will work out
Vlc to me produces better video.
So sticking with it.

Axios I tried 5 skins and shrugged. The one that resembled the Apple movie player from days of old (forgot name) was cute for a couple hours. They all disappeared that extensive menu and not all (most would) would right-click to give you the menu back. So I kept the original look 🙂

I am liking VLC tested with K19 Widowmaker. All the buttons work and my blue ray drive plays it well.
