End of an era. Ol' reliable DE. Time passed it by.
It has been a solid DE, but has become a bit too stale. I ran it on an older laptop for a while and liked it as it was performant on the horrible CPU and 1Gb of ram.
Ironically, it is not all that old relatively. It first released the same year (2011) Cinnamon was, just a few months before it. It is being replaced by a DE (XFCE) that actually first released before KDE / Gnome, way back in 1996.
Interesting side note: Olivier Fourdan who created XFCE now works at Red Hat, and has for a while. Does a lot around Wayland, especially on the Gnome side of things.
