So I looked at the canon website and they have 0 drivers for Linux (not that I would know how to install them).

Any possible workarounds or recommendations for detailed flatbed scanners that play well with Solus?

*we have the canon ufrii's but those are not scan drivers.

*Many are saying for that model find the pixma-backed package and that will work. Not in repo that I can see.

*I'm also seeing sane-backends works but I don't know all you can do it try.

*to get the scanner seen at least I would install Gsan2pdf the ugliest scan program I've ever used. it see's everything. I've seen repo scanners not detect stuff.

spitballing. where there's a will there's a way with scanners and solus and linux in general. If it takes 4 or 5 days to figure it out it still beats windows 🙂

I wish there was. I have one in the stash in case I have to scan some slides or negatives. One of the few remaining reasons I still have a windows computer.

According to this site your scanner is fully supported by sane-backends.
I myself have a Canon CanoScan Lide 100 which also works.

Have you tried installing sudo eopkg it sane-backends simple-scan and checked whether simple-scan detects your scanner?

It works. Another checkmark to migrating to Budgie.

qsl Sane is kind of a collection of scanner drivers for linux. While it does not support each and every scanner, it still does support many brands and models out of the box.

As brent has suggested, you might also experiment with different scanning programs. I use simple-scan most of the time, but as the name suggest it has a limited number of settings and preferences.

ah the internet...some 'experts' said it was. some 'experts' said is was not part of sane. either way sane was the right way to go.

I also have a Canon CanoScan Lide for backup since I now use my canon printer for scanning.
Did alot a scanner testing and program testing awhile back what I found out was
a standalone scanner almost all programs work well with it but if you have a printer scanner
you may run into issues with certain programs (not sure exactly why)
That was a Issue I had and finally found one that worked properly on my printer scanner just fine.
