What is the suggested pdf-engine for pandoc in Solus?

What is the suggested pdf-engine for pandoc in Solus? Pandoc tells me to install pdflatex which I can't find from the repository, or specify another with --pdf-engine, but I couldn't find an alternative. Pandoc needs a pdf-engine when I instruct it to convert a markdown file to pdf.

I'm not familiar with pandoc, but looking at its website it states the following for PDF conversion:
→ via pdflatex, lualatex, xelatex, latexmk, tectonic, wkhtmltopdf, weasyprint, prince, pagedjs-cli, context, or pdfroff.
Of these, the only one I can see in the repositories is wkhtmltopdf. Whether that supports your use case though I don't know. I also don't know whether pandoc would be able to support a different pdf converter platform to those listed.

stocc Thank you. I assumed the repo would have at least one compatible pdf-engine. But I guess that's not the case. Earlier I tried to find some of these alternatives with zero results. I tried searching for wkhtmltopdf again, but I can't find it in Software Center even now. I guess I need to compile from source code, or use other means to generate the pdf. But I can do the research myself and not bother you guys with it. Thank you.

Jumpy That's odd. The package does appear to be in the repo (https://cdn.getsol.us/repo/shannon/w/wkhtmltopdf/), but doesn't show up in Software Center, nor via command line (sudo eopkg sr wkhtmltopdf). I have no idea why that is.

This package has been deprecated, but the repository not cleaned of all (now useless) remnants. Apparently it uses/used qtwebkit, which was removed as part of the Plasma 6 updates

Try installing texlive, it contains many pdf related tools.
