gnome-boxes (instead of virtualbox)

wow, gnome-boxes (on plasma) is a pretty awesome piece of software. i decided to see if it worked with my old vbox machines so i think i dragged either the .vbox file or the .vdi into the boxes interface and it converted it automaticly to the boxes format

ill be uninstalling virtualbox now, and no need for the vbox kernel module

It is basically a pretty front-end for qemu and friends. It is good for basic uses but many settings are limited to editing xml file. If you need more customization, I would suggest virt-manager instead. It is definitely a good looking app tho 🙂

sounds good, but my needs are simple, its one of those relatively few cases where the minimalism of gnome actually suits me

good to test distributions, etc...
but as soon as you need more in-depth functions, e.g. for the NIC, etc... then it is less suitable.
but for me it's enough, too...

Yeah, I use gnome-boxes for all my simple VM needs. Pretty nifty little app. virt-manager when I need more advanced stuff, but I hate how it looks ^^
