After a day of poaching in foreign climes, I'm remorseful and back at Solus.
I thought I had to take a look at Manjaro. 🤦
But what do I have to say; other mothers may also have beautiful daughters, but then your own wife is the best...

that's why Solus stays #1 and all else including hopping is "my backup OS."

PS--endeavour and cachy give you a great Arch experience, Manjaro not so much and of all the Budgies I liked their version least for some reason. (we all have different tastes, etc)

Same here. I bought an additional M.2 SSD to try a bunch of the latest distros for the hellavit. Latest Fedora and Ubuntu could not suspend properly. Deepin, surprisingly, ran very well and was easily Americanized via Flatpaks. Manjaro works until there's something in the AUR you need... then the honeymoon is over. Sorta ugly package manager, too.

Elive was fun but does not scale things well due to the limits of Enlightenment. Fun, though. KaOS is something I always try and always get rid of due to the occasional update breakage with printer or an application I had to build myself. Kubuntu had visual glitches on my system, (AMD 7700x/integrated graphics).

Mint remains on my main drive 'cause it always works BUT I LOVE SOLUS PLASMA. It's staying. and THANKS for keeping Insync on the third-party list.

Of all the Arch-based distros, Manjaro is the one I would never recommend. Honestly, EndeavourOS is the one I like as it is a closer philosophy to Solus as it focusses more on the common-sense side of things and gives a clean environment. I run both EOS and Solus across many systems. It is also my two favorite communities as while they are a little smaller, they are full of good people and devs and not the gatekeeping type.

I find Manjaro to bloated with all their extra stuff put in as default. But that's just a personal taste.

I think endeavouros is a great distro and used it for over a year, but after Arch puked up the linux-firmware update earlier this week I thought I would check in with some of my favorite distros.

Elementary OS was the hot mess I expected but I still like Pantheon. Solus Gnome was next and I'm sticking with it for a while. It's clear that a lot of hard work has been done to get it back in shape.

riffer Yeah, that Arch firmware change was a hot mess. It is what I like about Solus and the more curated approach to a rolling release distro. It doesn't mean you won't ever have problems, as it happens, but it is much more controlled and less likely due to their method. It is why EndeavourOS is not on my main work system in my office and Solus is.

When I saw that I grimaced. The uninstall/reinstall process went fine for me but not for everybody at that forum.
I never did check its integrity, i.e.,fwupdmgr, did either of you?

brent It was fine after the manual intervention. I luckily was on vacation when it happened, so I got to see the fallout before updating my system.

The uninstall/reinstall failed for me and boot failed. Couldn't even get a tty.

I had plenty of time so I just recovered my Evolution data and started trying other distros on a spare drive. I just wasn't in the mood for troubleshooting.

As you read, I tested the fwupdmgr terminal command and it gives me the following warning messages

I don't blame you at all. When you can't boot or get tty there's a crapload of troubleshooting, days sometimes.
