vulkan error when trying to render on blender 4.5 beta from their site

i can't seem to use vulkan rendering on blender 4.5 with solus since i keep getting this error when trting to render anything.

Failed to load HIP kernel from '/mnt/01DB6EEC667480D0/linux/blender-4.5.0-beta+v45.ddcd314df463-linux.x86_64-release/4.5/scripts/addons_core/cycles/lib/kernel_rt_gfx1030.hipfb.zst' (No binary for GPU)

it only happens with solus though since it works on other distros minus the constant crashes after a couple minutes.

edit: and i just tested more and it appears that 4.5 on solus is completely busted for cycles rendering on amd since i also tried with opencl and it shows the same error

On those other distros did you also just download the tarball(?) from the Blender website? Anyway, the Solus team can't possible guarantee that software distributed outside the repository works as expected in all cases. Not sure if anything can be done in this case.

We do not have blender 4.5 yet, only 4.4.3 . How do you get it installed? I don't think you can just run blender binary and expect hardware acceleration works like that.

alfisya blender beta from the official site. Guessing the software center version handles hip support differently compared to other distros?

Staudey i guess i have no other choice but to abandon solus again for the time being and hope it's fixed when the next blender version gets added to the repository

carlanbro If it works well on a particular distro for you, why not try using Distrobox? I use this for a handful of apps I need and it works great. The app works as it is a 1st class desktop app. If you want to make it easier, install Distrobox + Boxbuddy (Flatpak) and you can manage it all pretty easily. There is little to no overhead doing it this way.

Original-Syn i distro hop alot, so i rarely ever get settled on one distro and keep it for longer than a month. so it's not something worth the effort for me.

carlanbro Fair enough. If you ever find one you end up staying on, it is a viable option if a certain package works best on a different distro.
