I have a canon printer scanner on the network
Documents are no problem
But I need to do some image scanning and the programs offered do not give me the control
I need over brightness contrast dpi it is either a preset or something or doesnt work or if it works I cant
scan at a higher Dpi its stuck at 300Dpi

So I went looking Gimp was the first I can not get it to see the scanner tried all varieties of it
not sure what I am not understanding about Gimp.
And really thats the only one that I found as a image program that should be able to use scanner.

Any input would be helpful not really wanting to set it all up on winders just for that.

I think gscan2pdfcould handle that. It's in repo.

Axios got it. I re-read it. on paper I thought Gimp would be perfect. That 'not seeing' the scanner part seems weird. a plugin maybe?

brent Gimp is one those apparent messy master pieces to ever body..lol
I read no need after certain version ect... So who knows
Think I dig out my Canon scanner from storage that plugs usb see if I get different result.
Only thing I know to try.

but with no Usb driver it is what it is. (Limited control)
If it was hooked usb am sure would be no issues.

Hooked up my Canon LIDE scanner and everything is fine Skanpage seems to work for me just fine.

better late than never to find out 🙂, you were banging your hear for a while.

Axios but with no Usb driver it is what it is.

for canon scanners there are basically 3-4 groups of driver packages that cover all almost every(canon) printer/scanner by my understanding-
the UFRIIs
the cnij package
cnrdrvcups-lb
and I forget the last one. think we got them all.

brent if the the cnij package was current my printer is supported usb then.
No worries way work around it .

Note: What seems be the easiest and fastest is scanning to Usb on the printer then to computer
wish I could change res on the printer scan panel tho.
I could not get it to work yest it was disabled for some reason..lol

After alot of trial and error and other things
I have settled on NAPS2 FLATPAK VER 7.1.2
You can download it off there website and use warehouse to install it.
iT works flawless on my canon MF printer connected by network.

But for some reason it had issues with the newer versions they are known to developer(I really like the newer ver)
(AS with all the other scan programs I tried still not sure why or if its just the animal)
I am curious how they work on wayland when I get my wayland machine working

(Just info for those if needed)

Note: Use warehouse and install it as User and not System if you install the other way.

Axios yeah I saw the word 'Hamrick' and went hmmm....but I never imagined in 100 years that there existed a flatpak app you had to pay for before you could use it...thought it was free...did not think that through!
