Install Eclipse Temurin OpenJDK

Noob Warning- Do not read if dumb noob questions drive you nuts

I have looked at Solus Help, etc., but I am just not understanding how I should install this. I do need this particular jdk (long story). Precisely it's OpenJDK21U-jdk_x64_linux_hotspot_21.0.7_6. thx.

[Noob info: Linux & dev noob. Twenty years IT experience, but all Windows. All *nix experience is (l)usr. I am so old that my favorite Unix shell command is "stty sane".]

Download
You can get the latest build from Adoptium (Eclipse Temurin):
Download.tar.gz

Extract
In your terminal:

tar -xzf OpenJDK21U-jdk_x64_linux_hotspot_21.0.7_6.tar.gz

Set up environment
Edit your ~/.bashrc (or ~/.zshrc) and add:

export JAVA_HOME=/path/to/jdk-21.0.7+6
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

E.g.

export JAVA_HOME=~/Download/jdk-21.0.7+6
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

Then apply the changes: source ~/.bashrc

Verify
Check the version: java -version

fsck
