In Place Upgrade - Will Solus load if its drive is installed in a new mobo?

Currently running a PC with Solus Plasma, Dual Pentium E2180 with 4GB Ram and a GT 1030 2GB which means Solus only sees about 2.3GB useable RAM so a bit sluggish.

I plan to swap the SSD with Solus into a Core2 Duo E8400 with 8GB ram and the same GT 1030 graphics. Just need to get the PC posting first which means a new PSU and CPU cooler.

Can anyone see any problems with just swapping the SSD over, will the kernel just load the right drivers for the new to me motherboard?

Solus itself will love the 8GB. I've done this with HDDs many times between older "new" rigs with no problems that I can think of. Fired right up, kernel loaded.
Recently I took an SSD out of one computer, reformatted Windows off of it, and cloned Solus and Endeavour to it. Plugged that SSD into a board its never seen before and started right up.

Thanks brent good to know its been attempted only traps I can see are different Sata chipsets ICH7 vs ICH9 and maybe onboard ethernet Controller Marvell vs Realtek.

Just have to wait for CPU cooler and thermal paste to be delivered.

Well I need to wait til I get some paste and cooler as mentioned but I found a spare CPU and motherboard so if the old one doesn't post I can try the spares. Wish me luck.

It should not be any problem with the ICH7/9. Do you know the model number of the new Ethernet controller? Those can sometimes have issues depending on the chipset.

I believe that will be fine with the current kernel versions. Realtek is always a bit hit or miss, but that is not a new card.
