App Switch (Alt+Tab) problem

Hi everyone,

I know this isn’t the first post about this, but I’m still struggling to find a proper solution.

When I use Budgie’s built-in app switcher (via Alt+Tab or similar), the UI shows the correct application has been selected, but it often doesn’t actually switch until I click the window or Alt+Tab again. This happens frequently and breaks the flow, despite the switcher visually indicating success.

Budgie is a fantastic desktop environment and fits my needs almost perfectly—but this issue is quite disruptive. I’ve been using rofi -show window as a workaround, and I’ve also seen suggestions like skippy-xd, but it feels odd to rely on external tools for such a core function.

I’m not here to point fingers—just genuinely curious if this is being looked into or if there are plans to improve the native experience. Personally, I believe fixing this would be more valuable than adding new features.

haligh Must be something particular to your setup I use alt-tab all the time
(Bad windows habit..lol)
I got 3 Budgie machines it works fine on all them.

haligh I use Alt+Tab all the time. I've had a few occasions where it hasn’t switched to the window I expected, but I put it down to user error and as it happens rarely I don’t worry about it. It would be interesting to see whether installing budgie-previews (at least that's what I think it's called) changes anything for you. That package adds window previews to the Alt+Tab switcher.

Oh interesting. I have the Bug on 2 Machines. Which budgie-desktop Version are you using?

haligh I am not really sure what i started with but its been years of updating
