Migrating Mastodons

Heya folks, with the ongoing uncertainty surrounding our previous Mastodon instance, Fosstodon, we have made the decision to find a new home in the Fediverse, and floss.social is our choice. Going forward, you can find us on Mastodon at https://floss.social/@getsolus

On floss.social, we believe that we can better engage our users, and the Linux community as a whole. Other open source projects like Budgie, KDE, GNOME, and Xfce are already there, so we feel right at home.

Solus values our community, and we value kindness. It is important, then, that we choose an instance where our users feel like they can engage with us, no matter who they are. Floss.social embodies those values, as well.

Thank you for staying with us, and we hope there are no disruptions.

brent Fosstodon's reputation hasn't been very good for a long time, and after recent drama, both founding admins quit. We believe that we can have a greater reach elsewhere, and it is uncertain how much longer Fosstodon will continue to exist.

AlphaElwedritsch Centralized network is even more prone to this problem and on centralized network, there is no such thing as "moving". With decentralized network, "moving" is still an option and you can keep your presence mostly intact.
