KDE Plasma - Global menu not working for many apps

The KDE global menu widget doesn't work on many apps, and hasn't ever worked reliably here. I noticed a while back when VSCode and Obsidian lost their global menus all of a sudden and I associated it with some electron apps being updated to running on wayland natively, but after searching around that doesn't seem to be an issue for other distros or exclusive to a packaging format (native distro package, appimage or flatpak). What's going on here?

Apps where it doesn't work for me:

Firefox (native package)
Inkscape (native, especially bad because the app hides its native menu if a global menu is active)
VSCode (native)
Obsidian (appimage)
Thunderbird (native)

Apps where it does work:

Any default KDE app (Dolphin, Konsole etc.)
Edge (flatpak)
Gimp (native)

Try add GDK_BACKEND=x11 to the apps variable.

This is a bug in KDE Plasma which needs to be reported to the KDE project. Please look to see if there's an open issue on the KDE tracker, and feel free to open a new one if necessary. This isn't something Solus can fix. Thanks.
