  • Dual boot EndeavorOS (arch-based) and Solus

Hi everyone, I have installed both EOS and Solus on my PC, but I have a problem with Solus recognition from EOS grub: EOS os-prober (both the normal and btrfs versions) detects Solus by updating grub from the terminal (on EOS I use the command "sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg"), but when I reboot it is not shown in the menu. I also tried other arch based systems like Garuda, and the problem remains the same.

How can I make EOS show Solus also from the grub boot menu?

I would like to keep EOS as the primary distro also when booting, but if necessary I would switch to Solus, but only if other solutions do not work.

This is what I get when updating grub from EOS:

[sermor@sermor-eospc ~]$ sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

This is what grub gives me back on startup:

Sermoris I have them cloned side-by-side happily with separate sysd bootloaders (non-grub).
I boot with F12 so I can pick. If I don't pick, it defaults to Solus.
Can you see both OS's when you F12 on boot?

edit: did you run the grub update in both OS's? Did you reboot a couple times?

No, I have not updated the grub on Solus, I will do it.

Can I use the same command that I use on EOS, or do I have to use another one on Solus to update the grub?

PS: yes by pressing F8 (in my case), I can choose which hdd to boot from and there is also Solus among the options

Sermoris don't know never use it. but I will look at Help section on main page and report right back

      ok https://help.getsol.us/docs/user/troubleshooting/installation#legacybios-installation
"Legacy installations on Solus use the GRUB boot loader on an MBR disk. Only one boot loader can be used on an MBR disk, so if you haven't installed the Solus boot loader on the MBR, you will need to boot into the other OS and update GRUB prior to being able to boot Solus. This will also be required on each update of the kernel to ensure you're booting the latest release."

did you do it this way?

I'm so used to booting that way I forgot it was backwards and wrong 🙂 but the bios sees it for sure which is good.
