  • The Solus installer should have a option to install available updates.

Been experimenting with Solus on my spare laptop (haven't switched yet), and honestly, i think that having such an option in the installer would be really nice QOL feature to have, as it would make the Solus experience much easier as you don't have to install updates after install if you don't want to.

This could be really beneficial for those who just wants everything to be ready to go after install, without needing to update. While updates are optional, this could still be a good feature to add in my opinion.

There's a poll here too as you can see, to let you guys, the community decide too.

So should there be a "Install Updates During Installation" option in the Solus installer?

I'm wondering if it should default to automatic. The exception being the computer is not online.

Welcome to Solus. This is an interesting and probably popular proposal. Off course, those descisions are not made by the Solus users, but the developers. But there is a discussion on it's way about changes to the Solus install process anyway. Your view on updating during install can be gainfully brought to the discussion in this thread.
This issue might also be of interest.

Sebastian Wish I could post on there, but creating a Github account is not exactly something I will do now, but maybe in the future.

I understand this hesitation. I am not a dev either, and I don't know how to code.
Having a Github account is a good way to contribute to Solus and other projects by submitting package update requests, bug reports and feature requests.

Edit: if you don't mind I did mention your proposal in the Gitbub issue I mentioned earlier

Sebastian Thanks for mentioning my suggestion in the Github page! Appreciate it.

Also, i have no clue how to code either, so i cant really contribute with that. But maybe i will make a Github account to send bug reports though.
