AlphaElwedritsch Oclone_33 You are not as "independent" as you say about yourself. I don't know what your comments have to do with independence or dependence. That's a bit far-fetched...
Oclone_33 AlphaElwedritsch Not really. I use 'Papers' PDF reader from Gnome, and also image viewer 'Loupe' from Gnome. But my edition of Solus is Budgie. Gnome is integrated successfully. Therefore, I consider Solus as an adjacent (dependent on Gnome) distribution. This is my user opinion - I am not a developer, but a user and consumer.
EbonJaeger In the context of Linux distributions, independent means not being based on another distributions package repository. For instance, Debian is an independent distribution, while Ubuntu, being based on Debian repositories, is not.
acvsilva I appreciate everyone's responses. One 'advantage' we laypeople have is overcoming technical and philosophical barriers to achieve a promising result. I've been continuously using Flatpaks on Solus and have no complaints. The integration is seamless. If they're not the pinnacle of software engineering, so be it. They work for me, and that's enough. Have a good day, everyone. ;-)
