Can’t Install Solus 4.7 Gnome

I booted Solus 4.7 Gnome using ventoy but it boots to a blank overview mode
I can see the top panel but cant click on anything
This only happens with Gnome
I can boot and install KDE just fine
On budgie i get a black screen with breeze cursor

Make sure you are on the latest version of Ventoy. Outdated versions have caused similar problems in the past. Ventoy updated just a few days ago.

BuzzPCSOS Thanks for the heads up! I try to check ventoy upstream once in a while for new updates.

DESTINATOR OK, next step should be to post the results of inxi -b so that everyone knows what hardware we are dealing with. It is fine to boot from an iso that works for your computer and then copy the output into a txt file. Save it so another USB drive as your boot media cannot be accessed in live mode.

Are you sure the ISO is not broken? Did you already verify it? Please try this guide to check the integrity of the ISO.

alfisya Yes it’s fine I did verify it. And I also redownloaded it 3 times.
Interestingly the 4.6 Gnome and Budgie ISO do work just fine. I am only facing this issue on 4.7 Gnome and Budgie ISOs. The 4.7 KDE ISO works fine too.

Hello Everyone
So I found the reason why I couldn’t boot Gnome or Budgie 4.7. It has something to do with the Nvidia Drivers. I have a GTX 1050ti. I can boot those ISOs if I take out my graphics card and use my iGPU.
I do not face this issue on the 4.6 ISOs. I installed Budgie 4.6 and when I updated it, I got a black screen with my mouse cursor visible only. And then I installed the graphics driver through tty and rebooted and The issue was gone.
So in short there is an issue on 4.7 version that unless I install the graphics driver I cant use Gnome or Budgie but KDE works fine. Just wanted the devs to know and hope if they could fix it. And wanted to know if any other person is facing this issue.
And I did use Nvidia nomodeset but I get a black screen only.

There are open issues for these problems

These look to only affect people with an nVidia GPU

Workaround: install the proprietary Nvidia drivers and see if that allows Budgie to load normally.
