Is it possible to make a copy of my entire Solus system with all the programs and settings? I want to replace the harddrive on this laptop with a SSD. Since I now have the system set up the way I want it I would like to be able to copy the system so it could be reinstalled on the new SSD. Is there a way to do that using Solus?

      I've cloned Solus from one drive to another, successfully, using Gparted from a live environment. UUID you have to change manually. 2 cents

      Thanks Axios! I didn't think of doing it that way since I didn't see the discs utility in Solus. I realize now you would have to use a live USB to copy the system anyway. I have used the restore to create a bootable USB using an Iso I have downloaded. I didn't think about using it to copy a complete system.

        Citfta A good idea to make sure trim is enabled on your SSD once you have cloned across from your hard drive.
        Run sudo systemctl enable fstrim.timer which will ensure the drive is trimmed weekly.

          After many, many years of cloning various systems, I've found that the free FoxClone (at foxclone.org) is the only program that consistently/successfully clones Windows and Linux file systems, GPT and MBR/legacy/MSDOS partition tables, as well as cloning the UUID properly.

          I just used it to upgrade my existing dual boot Win/Lin to a larger SSD.
          Of course, you'll need to expand the partition table with GParted to use the larger SSD when it's done.

          Use the USB live boot version of FoxClone to avoid issues.

          Thanks for the tip. I'll check out FoxClone.

          I am now using FoxClone. It is a lot slicker and faster than Resuezilla but comes with Palemoon browser which has trouble with some sites so I downloaded Firefox and ran it while doing a big backup so I could browse. FoxClone will be my go to backup solution in future.

          Ya I looked at Foxclone way back never did use but thought it would prob be the one to use
          Instead I went with a windows pe disk the program I use works both windows and linux but lets me browse the files in the disk image and recover them if needed only drawback it wasnt free.

          Glad see some input on foxclone tho.

            Axios gparted was so insanely easy. cut and paste basically. no iso no program no download no burn usb and weirdly no fuss. the gparted folks don't sell it as a clone tool but I would use it again. things like clonezilla are huge and have to be burned to disk etc. to this day I wonder why its so under the radar?
