Hello everyone! The holiday festive period has ended, so we get back rolling! In this edition, we will talk about packaging, our website and documentation, cleanup crew and funding.
Before that, I want to say that I like numbers. That's why this roundup and the previous one (a section on Sync Updates) always show numbers as progress indicators. It is always fun to see a number go up or down, or checking-off a point on the to-do-list, but in actuality, it is not always representative of progress. From what I learned this past year is that tracking progress is very hard. Even without number goes up or down, there is always progress. We just can't show it to you with a cold hard number. So, please don't get discouraged when our numbers doesn't impress you. We always try our best.
Now, with that said: I will be ADDING more statistics to show you, because it is FUN. Anyway, welcome to the second edition of Contributor Roundup!
Packaging
In this period, we have 20 authors that committed to the packages repository, amounting to 800 commits (excluding merges). This can be considered low compared to the previous one month cycle which is usually around >1100 commits, but it was holiday period and contributors needs a break too. Cut us some slack!
There is no changes yet to Packaging workflow in January. If you want to see the previous changes to packaging workflow, we keep a record of them on the "Packaging Changes" page in the help center.
We still have 8 open issues tagged as "Good First Issue". Grab one while it is still available!
Solus Cleanup Crew
We are so close to completing the homepage task, with only python
(this package contains base python 2) left. This package is a bit tricky to work with and does not build currently with the recipe as is. We are still working on fixing it.
We also managed to add monitoring.yml
files to 84 packages, solved 2 packaging problems, and migrated 2 packages from the archived Wiki GNOME as homepage. Here are the tasks that is still need to be done and their progress:
Website and Documentation
We have a few open issues on our documentation and website repositories:
We are still looking for more people to work on the website. If you have any experience in web development, especially with hugo
, we would love to hear from you.
