Hello everyone! We are trying something new. We are splitting off the Solus Cleanup Crew progress from the weekly Solus Updates and expanding it. In this new format we get more room to talk about other topics than package updates. We will talk about packaging, our website and documentation, cleanup crew and funding. We will try to do this once every three weeks.
Welcome to the first Contributor Roundup!
Packaging
We are always trying to improve our packaging experience for contributors, so changes sometimes happens. Sometimes it is small, sometimes it is big. All of the changes are communicated by our packaging room in Matrix. We are also keeping a record of the changes on the "Packaging Changes" page in the help center. Packaging changes that happened in December are:
- New go-task functionality to check for package updates
- Mandatory rss field in monitoring.yml
For the ones that want to dip their toes into packaging, we have 8 open issue tagged as "Good First Issue" available. Better grab it soon!
Solus Cleanup Crew
Our Solus Cleanup Crew™️ has been hard at work bringing the repository up to current standards. In this period, we managed to add monitoring.yml
file to 107 packages, solved 2 packaging problems, and migrated 3 packages from the archived Wiki GNOME as homepage. Here are the tasks that is still need to be done and their progress:
Website and Documentation
We have a few open issues on our documentation and website repositories:
As a sidenote, we would love to have more people working on the website. If you have any experience in web development, especially with hugo
