Salve a tutti,sono un giovane del 46
e mi sono appena inscritto al forum anche se da un po' di tempo sto provando questa
distribuzione che mi è sempre piaciuta, l'avevo lasciata per problemi con la stampante adesso risolti.
Avevo una domanda da fare reinstallando solus budgie, de che preferisco, ho notato che si installa amche CAJA
mi domandavo a cosa serve avere questa applicazione quando cera gia' NEMO ?
Scasate la mia ignoranza sono solo un utilizzatore.

Hello everyone, I'm a young man from '46
and I just signed up to the forum even though I've been trying this
distribution for a while now that I've always liked it, I had left it because of problems with the printer now solved.
I had a question to ask reinstalling solus budgie, which I prefer, I noticed that CAJA is also installed
I was wondering what the point of having this application was when NEMO was already there?

NEMO is the default file manager. I think Caja serves some minor function, I forgot what.

Sometimes Linux offers more than one way to do something. This is one example. Since both are available, just try them both and pick the one you prefer to use. Frankly, when I use a GNOME-based edition, I like Caja, but you might prefer Nemo.

@Sebastian furthers this with "When you click on Trash, caja opens because Solus doesn't yet ship a list of default applications for common MIME types. In this case, GNOME and Budgie will launch whichever comes first alphabetically (the name of desktop file).
caja-folder-handler.desktop comes before nemo.desktop and org.xfce.Thunar.desktop.
Shipping a list of default applications for common MIME types is on the milestone list for Solus 4.6."

Schrodinger's Caja? I have no Caja whatsoever on my install. maybe it crept in with an app.
Or stepped in before we got Engrampra?
Inquiring minds, etc.

Like @WetGeek said, use it if you like it. In settings you can always set the default file manager.

brent we never defaulted the budgie edition to use caja

In my case, it was the Xfce laptop, not Budgie. I believe it was in my menu by default, because I never went looking for it.

Seems like engrampa (the now default archive manager for Solus Budgie) depends on Caja

Staudey I thought so (above). still wonder why I don't have a trace of caja on my budgie? unless this was just an ISO thing?
