Hello All,

I am using Solus Gnome for some time, and basically everything works fine. But now (since Kernel 6.11 was implemented), I have noticed an issue (not sure if it is an issue), or a change in behaviour.

This is related to the idle frequency of the CPU (in my case AMD Ryzen 7 8700G):

Until Kernel 6.10 it went down to 400 Mhz in idle state.

Since Kernel 6.11 it clocks down to 2.403 Mhz in idle state.

In order to verify if this is Solus related, I have checked this with Debian Testing and Fedora:

Debian Testing (6.11.7 Kernel): min. frequency 2.403 Mhz (same as Solus)

Fedora 41 (6.11.4 Kernel): min. frequency 400 Mhz (same as previous Kernel)

Another guy had the same issue with Debian Testing, switched to XanMod Kernel, and now it clocks to 400 Mhz.

With Arch the min. frequency also goes down to 400 Mhz.

Does anyone know what this is about, whether it is a bug in the kernel?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards from Germany,

Mike

DragonXP What are you using Budgie Plasma?
In Budgie in the dock with status indicator you can click on it and change modes
    (Power save,Balanced,Performance)
trying that may trigger something to work different (not sure what plasma has tho)

(Just something try if your using Budgie)

alfisya Ooops not enuf coffee I guess..lol
Do you know what gnome has to change those power modes like that?

        Axios
It is a fresh install, witout any modifications, meaning "balanced".
With this fresh install, I tested it with CPU-X prior to the updates (Kernel 6.10) and got 400 Mhz Idle.
Did the same after all updates (Kernel 6.11) and got 2.403 Mhz Idle.
