According to the Vivaldi help, it's possible to copy all one's bookmarks to the Speed Dial, but I've been trying to do that for a long time now, and nothing's working as instructed. Has anyone here actually done that?

I get part way through the instruction in help, and then the instructions no longer match the UI. For example, it tells me to open the bookmarks panel and select a bookmarks folder, then click on Speed Dial. I can't select a bookmarks folder, because as far as I know, I only have one. So I get nowhere with it.

If I remember correctly, you need to define the folder as a speed dial.

Using the bookmark manager, select a folder and on the right, in the folder properties, check the “speed dial” box to make this folder the speed dial. Or with a right clic on the folder and select speed dial.

That sounds like what the help told me to do, but still nothing appeared on the Start Page. In the Bookmark panel, there's an entry that looks like this, and its expanded contents look fine:

But that doesn't seem to populate the Speed Dial on the Start Page. There has to be a step that I'm missing. Thanks for your reply ... I think I just need to keep trying new ideas until something finally works.

There are several ways to do it.

    1. Create a new Speed Dial folder and copy/paste bookmarks there in Bookmarks Manager.
    2. You can make existing folder with bookmarks as Speed Dial (there is a context menu option). It will add a new Speed Dial next to the old one. You can remove old one.
    3. Manually create a new Speed Dial by pressing + button and manually populate it with links, or copy links from another Speed Dials.

This is why I said that the help article didn't match the reality of my system. I've carefully examined the context menus of everything in the bookmark panel, and there is no such option. I suspect it's beecause of some problem with my Vivaldi installation, but none of these kind suggestions are working for me.

There are references to the bookmark manager - perhaps if I could figure out how to launch that, it would give me options that don't appear in the bookmark panel. Where can I locate that manager?

Okay, DuckDuckGo to the rescue. I found out about CTRL+B to open that. I'll review all the advice I've gotten in the context of that manager, and see what makes sense according to what I'm seeing. Thanks for all your help!

Bookmarks manager is on the Start Page, click on Bookmarks, next to History and Notes.

I'm finally seeing some results. These bookmarks represent the contents of my tab stacks, and they're working quite well. I think in order to recover the remainder of my original Speed Dial contents, I'll need to go though my LastPass entries, open them up, and try to save them as Speed Dial bookmarks.
