Wine issues on fresh install

after doing a fresh install today, ive bumped into an issue with wine

when trying to run winecfg
im getting the following error

002c:fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0)
wine: could not load kernel32.dll, status c0000135

thoughts?

jawkins Fresh install and fully up-to-date?

jawkins For me it helped to delete the wine prefix in ~/.wine and try again.

Could it be that you also created that prefix BEFORE installing wine-32bit? Only thing I can think of right now.

Hmm, I can't reproduce this on a clean XFCE VM. What desktop environment are you using?

Staudey Oh wait, I can reproduce it after installing wine-32bit too? Weird.

Staudey funnily enough. i tried something different,
i removed wine32, deleted the prefix, then ran winecfg, "thus creating a 64bit only prefix"

i then re-installed the 32-bit winelibs, and all is working fine.
strange, but it works, so i cant complain
