Hey, guys! New Linux user here, please go easy on me, lol
After so many years of Windows, I found Solus and I'm enjoying it so much! I just haven't found a way to enable 5.1 sound (Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller), which is driving me crazy. So far, I found two guides:
The first one, is about entering this on terminal:
amixer -c 0 set "Analog Output" "Multichannel"
but I get this message:
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'Analog Output',0
The other guide, is about editing daemon.conf (which I happened to find at usr/share/pulseaudio), and yes, I can open it and I see the values:
; default-sample-channels = 2
; default-channel-map = front-left,front-right
...which, according to the guide, I should change to:
default-sample-channels = 6
default-channel-map = front-left,front-right,front-center,lfe,rear-left,rear-right
...the problem is that I can only open this file in read-only mode. I already tried opening it via terminal by entering:
sudo gedit usr/share/pulseaudio/daemon.conf
...but it ends up opening a blank file instead, why? please forgive my ignorance. I already tried after sudo su, and after creating an administrator account, with same results. What can I do? Thank you very much in advance.
