I completely share your point of view.

I have been using Solus Budgie as my daily desktop for over four years now for the reasons you mentioned (I would also add speed, fluidity) and I have not regretted it since.
(of course, the other Solus desktop (Plasma, Gnome and the promising newcomer XFCE) have plenty of features that will suit other users too)

So, all things considered... what else? 😉

This may sound frivolous or silly, but I do too. I like the Solus logo, I like that in the Solus repo you can find lovely icons like Kora, Papirus, La Capitaine... and some of the stock wallpapers are so beautiful, that I have used them even on Windows 10 (blasphemy!). It's not the main reason why I like Solus, and in theory you can modify the looks of any distro, but still, I like the look of Solus.

Pros:

Doesn't get in the way of what I want to do
Default installation is very minimal but has everything an average user might need
It has never broken on me (been using for almost 3 years non stop; the curated rolling-release model works really well)
The package manager is very quick
It is very well optimized compared to other distros
It has improved a lot since the revival

Cons (because why not, nothing is perfect):

Some niche apps/tools aren't available. Either because no one requested or made a package for it; they didn't find it important enough; or no one outside of the community ever considers building for Solus because its not popular enough.
Some opinionated choices can make it difficult to find fixes for issues or install apps: Directory paths can be different to other popular distros, packages might not have the same name etc. No guide for Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Debian etc. will work on Solus.
There's no built-in firewall and system restore solutions.

I love the fact that it's updated every Friday. I love pisi/eopkg, very pleasant to use, very minimalist.

What I like least are the security updates (strangely enough) or the security and base updates, I find that weird for me, that's what mint used to do at one time and I used to criticize it. Either you don't do the updates or you do them all but you don't sort them out ...

Exactly. I stopped serious distro hopping about 6 years ago. For a very brief time I had to use another distro, but I went right back to Solus as soon as it became available again.

WetGeek In my case I hop to see which distro works on my laptop. Ubuntu and it's flavours , Solus ( Budgie ) works perfectly and every single other distro has issue with my machine donno why

WetGeek still keep ultramarine and sparky around? I don't hop hop either but I like a solid #2 or hobby on separate disk in case of disk failure/what-have-you and I've kept one around about a year just in case lately and it's solid. edit/changed some words

In a sense, I do. My .ISO files are stored on my NAS server, and I never feel the need to delete old ones, because it has terabytes of free space available still.

During the Solus Troubles, I used both Sparky and one other distro (Siduction) that I had reviewed previously (as VMs) and I knew I could tolerate them for a while. Both were acceptible fallbacks, with no glaring issues, and fully supported my daily "workflow" in place of a broken Solus.

If something like that ever happens again (VERY unlikely!) I'd download the latest Sparky Linux .ISO and install that. It's about as close to a Solus distro as anything that's based on Debian can be.
