Where have I been?
I was very curious when I saw this at devtracker yesterday: https://github.com/getsolus/packages/issues/3618 which is an SELinux package update request. Had no idea.
And I thought WTH? During our brief hiatus I had to flee to Fedora Budgie for a while. That security program would throw false positives all the time I thought it was irritating.
So I look in the software center: Ikey signed off on this in 2017 unknown to me:
Even more surprising (I think sometimes I live in a sea shell 🙂 ) was this was directly a Snap-related package--see the description--"This package is provided in Solus with the sole purpose of providing ABI compatibility with "classic Snaps" in order for them to run freely on more platforms without limitation. Solus does not use SELinux within the kernel, the role of LSM
is given to the AppArmor subsystem."
No kernel means that's why its never pestered me or drew attention to itself plus I never installed a snap. Ever.
Leads me to my only question: if we phased out Snaps then why are we updatinglibselinux
instead of phasing it out? EDIT: don't care in the least, SELinux has never bothered me here, just curious
