jacojacker Does anyone knows if Serpent OS will be the "competitor" of Solus? or will it just be another distro? Is there an idea in the future of merging the two projects into one better distro? BR.
Staudey jacojacker As originally mentioned in the "A New Voyage" blog post ("Solus 5 and beyond" section) the long-term plan is to base Solus on Serpent OS tools and/or packages. Both will continue to exist as their own projects though, that is, no merging into one single distro is planned. I'm not 100% up to date on what the exact current plans are though.
murbert jacojacker My sense is the plan for Serpent is to be the base for other distros, like Debian is. More here
jacojacker Thanks everyone for the reply! I am a Solus "evangelist" within my colleagues and family. For all I could see and read, a good future is coming to Solus and Serpent OS to become great Linux distros for daily usage.
penny-farthing I understood that Solus would be dedicated to home users, while Serpent OS would be reserved for professionals. Each distribution would have its own evolution, but certain developments in one would benefit the other and vice versa.
brent Lucien_Lachance suddenly I like gnome.... ....and the CLI installer is a nice throwback touch😉. despite my smart-as*ery this is exciting
brent stalebrim didn't see any yet but I'm screencasting one now based on Madden 19. it's made it to several 'tier list' videos, though--it's faring well with Arch. 😉
