On Solus prior to 4.5 I could connect to collectorz.com to sync and unlock my paid version of Bookcollector.exe under wine, which installs and runs well but,
Now I get this error:
Error while connecting to server: 273: Could not acquire security credentials: error 0x80090305.
Solus KDE Plasma 4.5 / Asus Vivobook K3402ZA wine-9.9
..
(I tested this on OpenSUSE where everything worked, but I prefer Solus as it supports my printer)

Which Wine version are you using on OpenSUSE?
If it's older than version 8.1 then you could try changing the simulated Windows version in winecfg. Before 8.1 it was Windows 7 by default, now it's Windows 10

Staudey It looks like OpenSUSE is using wine 9.1
I'll do some research on your suggestions. It may involve some re-installs and testing before I come back with more answers (hopefully). Thank you.
Later: So though ipconfig under wine works fine and I can ping google.com in wine's cmd shell, and iexplore connects too, the BookCollector app is not able to connect to the internet, for some reason.

I don't know if the problem is the wine version, but if it is, I'm reading here that the best (tested) one is 6.2 .To use an old version of wine an easy way is to use playonlinux which allows you to choose the best version of wine for each app.

FAb7D Thx but no luck getting my app (ver. 23.2.3 ) running under playonlinux. (Btw. I put OpenSUSE Leap on an older Thinkpad just to see which version they are using, which is 8.0. ) As Solus is a rolling release I can't install an older release and manage to install wine before it blocks the system with updating to the latest, so there's that. Anyhoo I'm very happy with how well my other apps are integrated. Even Borland's old Paradox 7 for Win95/NT gets a menu entry in Plasma. That's cool.

Staudey I did. No difference. I'm giving this a rest for a while. I got tired of trying all possibilites and reinstalling OS'es etc. No biggie, I'm sure it'll work again with some future update.

Staudey - indeed it has!
I am now back in Solus and everything works well.
Bookcollector is syncing again.
Thanks to whoever fixed this and to you of course!
As Solus has support for my printer and also has all the software I like to use, I'm very happy.
