I have a couple of fresh Solus installs where I run into the "steamwebhelper has crashed
" error after Steam has unpacked the runtime and prepares for its first startup. I've tried to figure out what causes the issue, ruled out slow disk I/O by putting Steam folder in tmpfs etc. but no luck. What's interesting is that the issue seems to appear only on my Ivy Bridge machines and on newer hardware Steam works fine.
So, my question is if someone running Solus on older-than-Haswell Intel system could test if running repo Steam works for them? If you've already set up steam, please move the config to somewhere else from .local/share/Steam
and remove .steam folder from your home before running.
