Hi!
Since the last update I have notice the following strange behaviour in Nautilus:

  1. The progress bar while copying files has completely disappeared (it used to be on the top right of the window) --> I have found it!!!! It is now at the bottom left of the window!!!!
  2. If I don't put the Nautilus window in full screen, the contents of the folders does not get displayed. Only if I pass the mouse over the window, the contents appear directly under the mouse
  3. If I click on "Options" I don't get the text displayed:

Personally I have never been a fan of Nautilus (imho there are much better alternatives in Linux) but with these problems the file manager becomes unusable.

Does anybody have the same problems?

Thanks for the help!

You only observe such an issue with nautilus, or are other applications also affected?
You could try to reinstall nautilus with sudo eopkg install --reinstall nautilus
You could also check for broken packages with sudo eopkg check

I wonder if any of this behavior changes if you disable dark style in the quick settings in the top right corner of your screen.

Thanks for the hints!

  • I also have this problem, for instance, with Dolphin (see picture below):

I tried reinstalling Nautilus, as you suggested, but it didn't improve the situation.
I also tried to change to disable the dark theme but it didn't help either.
I also checked the integrity of the packages but everything is ok.

I think it might be a theming issue, because in the dolphin screenshot you can slightly see the white filenames on white background.
Same happens I guess while using dark theme. You are in GNOME right? Have you other Desktop environments installed at the same time?
If you are in GNOME can you open Tweaks app and chose "reset to defaults" in the menu in top left.

Sebastian I am using Budgie. Is there anything similar to Tweaks in Budgie where I can reset the theme? Thanks!

I am not that familiar with Budgie. But you can try to open Budgie-Desktop-Settings with right click and then change themes there:

Unfortunately, changing the theme does not help. All the themes have the same problem :-(

      Thanks anyway for the help!

      rjuarezp I am using Budgie.

Since you are using Budgie, how is nemo ? Does it have the same problem? AFAIK Solus Budgie's default file manager is nemo now. Maybe try that instead.

I wonder if you create a new user and login as that user If the problem also occurs there

Sebastian All existing users have the same problem but if I create a new one, this one doesn't have the problem. How can I reset the user preferences?
