Hi everyone, recently, after a power outages, when I try to mount a specific partition (which was mounted when the power outages occurred) I get the error showed in the image below:

Strange thing is that if I try mounting the partition from command line, I can mount it without problem; then I can access the partition (also using the file manager), reading and editing the file in it and so on.

Any suggestions to solve the problem?

Many thanks.

  • Also the disk check with Windows found nothing, all seems good. Anyway, now it's working again xD
    What happens?? I don't know

zeref88 I don't know what version of Solus you are running so cannot be too specific about what program to use but there should be a partition manager that can perform a disk check.
    Plasma - KDE Partition Manager
    Budgie/Gnome - Disks
If the option is greyed out for the volume you need to check then try unmounting and go again.
You should also check SMART disk health for an indication of continued disk reliability.
    Good luck.

I'm using Solus with Budgie desktop. The disk check performed using Disks found nothing wrong. If I change the mount point from there I can access again the partition. It seems a problem related to the default mounting point used by the file manager.

I personally would boot from usb-stick and perform a check for all drives that were mounted when power failure occured. So, in case they are ext4 formatted: sudo fsck /dev/xxxx

zeref88 So is the issue resolved or was changing the mount point only a short term fix?
Did you check the SMART disk report while you were in Disks?

BuzzPCSOS Changing the mount point is just a workaround. Also the SMART check didn't find any problem.
To make things even more unusual... also from Windows I can access the partition without errors.

        A misterious mistery...

zeref88 Only got a few more good ideas I'm afraid.
Use the Solus Troubleshooting guide which might help.
Boot into the Budgie Live environment and see if you can access your partition from there. This will show if the fault is with the disk/partition or the current install of the software. Validating the installed software is one of the first things covered in the Troubleshooting Guide so worth a try.
If you are also accessing the partition from a Windows installation it might be worth running a disk check on the partition from there as it might just spot something that Disks missed although I would doubt it.
