Ok finally updated. Neofetch shows me using about double the ram I had been using previously on startup (1.3gb vs 750mb). Not a big deal since I've got 32gb of system ram available, but I thought I'd check it out and see where the new bloat was. Went to fire up ksysguard only to find out it's gone. Is that coming back? Any replacement that's a nice GUI like ksysguard (not interested in the command line top stuff). Memory: 1378MiB / 32013MiB (4%)

Edit: Found that it was replaced with System Monitor which needed installed manually.

FWIW I changed my global and SDDM theme to just plain Breeze Dark prior to updating and I had no theming issues on restart.

Thanks!

Noticed Konsole no longer has a transparent background. Figured it just got turned off so went to turn it on and got the message "your desktop doesn't support" transparent backgrounds?

    zmaint

What desktop environment are you using? Is this Plasma 6?

I have some profiles in Konsole that use transparency, and they are still transparent.
I am able to set both wallpaper and background transparency on a new profile as well.

TraceyC Yep just updated this morning.

What's the correct command/way to restart plasma 6 shell without restarting or logging out?
I came across the same issue I had with v.6 on Neon on X11 (one of the bugs I was referring to in my previous post): the windows are visible but when you click on/in them some other window gets the focus. It was this bug that finally made me uninstall Neon.
I did systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell which worked, but is it the recommended way to do it?

Anyone has problems with Kdenlive? I just updated and now it core dumps.

TraceyC Super odd. Now it's working today. I guess it needed a shutdown instead of a couple restarts? Weirdness.

          Due to https://discuss.getsol.us/d/10475-video-issues-after-update-to-new-kde6-and-nvidia-current
and myself having the big touchscreen keyboard after the update, I inestigated why some people have problem with sddm.

I have found three scenarios that cause problems on my virtual machine.

          1. Autologin set during installation in Calamares
After updating I just had blackscreen in Virtualbox. It bootet into wayland session.
Changing Session=plasma to Session=plasmax11 in /etc/sddm.conf makes it boot to X11 again.

          2. Autologin set via System Settings to Plasma (X11) before update
After updating it boots into wayland session, again blackscreen probably due to Virtualbox.
Changing Session=plasma to Session=plasmax11 in /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf makes it boot into X11 again.

          3. Autologin set via System Settings to Plasma (Wayland) before update
After updating, autologin doesn't work anymore and you are greeted with a big touchscreen keyboard in sddm default theme.
Login in and setting the autologin again fixes the problem.
What would work as well is changing Session=plasmawayland to Session=plasma in /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf

          I hope this is helpful.

I installed SolusOS this morning and then upgraded to Plasma6. I was a little worried that the 1.4 GB update would go wrong, but everything went well. Very good job, thank you for that.

Sorry, I'm from Germany, so I use Google Translate

            I'm having two issues.

Previously, when my monitor was sleeping, I could just start typing my password and unlock. Now I need to tap a key before inputting my password. Is there a way to change it back to the old method?

Randomly (it seems), after the screen has gone to sleep and the system should be locked, I'll start typing my password and everything pops right up, not locked at all. Has anyone else had this happen?

I'm just now noticing the 'Over Dramatic' tag on this thread 😂

rkill gone? I just tried to kill an unresponsive app (game launcher that I was trying to get to work) and it didn't pop up. Used to be I could just ctrl + alt + esc, cursor would turn into a skull and crossbones and I could just click to kill the offending program. To be fair I don't know if it went away in the upgrade, or at some point prior.

            Are there any good replacements?

Update It was called xkill. It had gotten removed at some point and not reinstalled. Perhaps from the 6 upgrade? Like ksysguard? Anyway I have it working now.

Some additional problems since Plasma 6:

              • I have to do plasmashell --replace everytime my external monitor goes to sleep
              • I have the same problem like @rincor with some applications, they are visible in the front, but when I click on it or type in something the window behind it is actually receiving the commands. Don't know exactly how to trigger it, but I guess it's only in the Wayland session
                4 days later

                zmaint

xkill was still present on my system after the Plasma 6 update. Glad you have it working now.

In the latest update, now my 3440x1440 monitor refresh rate of 100hz only shows 60 hz or 50 hz. I could be wrong, about the 100 hz, but is there any place for me to check what refresh rates are available for a monitor?
