Hi, I'm pretty new to linux or dualbooting in general.
I recently downloaded Solus Budgie 4.5 on my ASUS laptop, with no problems and by following this youtube video:
I have been dualbooting it for about a week now and I absolutely love it, and my brother wanted to try it out on his laptop, an HP Pavilion.
I have been trying to install it the same way that me and the person in the video installed it, by going into gparted before installation and setting up the partitions needed, but gparted shows no partitions on any of the drives other than "ataraid". The weird thing though, is that when I go into the installer and go to the partitions section, I am able to see the partitions just fine.
There's two things that are stopping me from continuing though.
- If I select "replace a partition" I am given the option to replace the free space with solus, but I don't want to continue because I'm not sure if it would work without the other partition for EFI as shown in the video. Is the partition for EFI needed?
- If I select "manual partitioning" I can do what appears to be editing partitions, but any change that I do does not stay and it appears that there's no option to apply operations (the next button is unclickable). Is this normal at all or an effect from ata raid?
Is it possible for me to install solus normally without any wiping of any disks? Any help would be appreciated!
