I'm back with Solus after waiting two years for a newer version. I always loved this system, but my computer did not. I always had trouble updating, after a while it just wouldn't boot anymore. Now, same computer but everything seems fine so far. Install was very easy, best installer I've seen. And everything else is as logical and intuitive as the installer. Two minor issues were easily solved, first, it wouldn't recognize my printer. Then I remembered there are two Printer apps. "Print Settings" is the one that does it. so that was easy. then, I couldn't do "other" updates. I saw on this forum a thread where "eopkg rbd" was recommended. Did it and update completed. As a bonus, the Cantata Player then worked. I couldn't get it to until the "other" updates went through.

In general, Solus looks even better than last time I used it. It is very elegant, simple and easy to use. I've had many times where I said to myself, yes, that's just what I would have done (if I were capable of creating something like this). As 'linux from scratch," it is very impressive. It is one thing to make a system based on another. Quite another to create one out of the box. Superb job, guys.

I'm a returner too, I've been on Manjaro for a couple of years but two failed updates in a row drove me away. The second one was a total borking that was made worse by the condescending attitude of the maintainers when I reported it.

I'm really impressed by Solus, Budgie recognises my Thinkpad's dual batteries, correctly reports total time, switches seamlessly and charges both properly - all things Manjaro would not do.
Boot time is fantastic, I thought there was something wrong with my brand new Samsung 850 Pro under Manjaro because it was slow, with Solus it's amazingly fast even with Luks enabled. (I wasn't using it before)
Getting to know and appreciate Budgie more every day.
No plans to leave now.

Just completed another update without problems. I continue to be hopeful that this newest edition of Solus is going to work on this computer. It continues to be a joy to use. The best evidence of that is, it doesn't get in the way of what you're doing. Just enables you to do it, quickly and easily.

Not a returner here but also impressed as a new user, I think this may be the distro that gets me to move outside of my debian comfort zone... finally. Budgie is especially cool. I think my main "pain" point is going to be getting used to typing "eopkg" (used to just "apt" in Mint), but I do like how it makes good use of text color.

Louhy alias apt='sol'. apt upgrade/install/remove are all the same as eopkg upgrade/install/remove.

Justin Yeah it's very tempting to cheat with a shortcut, but for now I think I'm going to force myself to type it, just so I can remember!
