Every time I get a new Brother printer, I download the driver from their website and then spend an hour how to get the printer to work on my system (Solus Budgie). Every time I have to re-learn the same thing: When entering the printer IP Address, you need to omit the 0's. For example, if the printer says its IP Address is 192.168.001.256, you need to enter 192.168.1.256. I don't know why it works this way but it does. Hopefully this message will be around in a few years when I have to re-learn this all over again or when someone else runs into the same issue.
