Is anyone here using this product? I've seen their commercials on TV, and examined their web page, but I have some questions that I haven't found answers for yet.
I'm familiar with VPNs in general, having worked for several companies who provided them for those of us who sometimes worked from home. Connecting to the company network via the VPN was exactly like being in the office, as far as the computer was concerned.
But I tried a third-party VPN product one time that worked differently, and it was of no use to me. It made me anonymous to the sites I connected with. I.e., some unknown person. So, I couldn't log on to my financial accounts, or my doctors' offices, or even order take-out lunch, because nobody knew who I was. That kind of anonymity was useless for me.
I'm hoping that Nord VPN works differently. I like the idea that it can work with a router to protect every device on a local network, 'cause I currently have 7 computers, and any number of virtual machines. Plus a smartphone and a couple of tablets for reading ebooks that are also on my network. And that makes the cost of a 2-year subscription quite attractive.
But not if it means my doctor's office won't know who's calling. Or I can't check my bank balance or trade some cryptocurrency. Or order a pizza.
That's why I'm looking for a testimonial from someone who's using it. And especially, I'm wondering how it is implemented with a router. As I understand it, it's software, not a hardware device, so I'm puzzled as to where it gets installed when it's used with a router. I've never installed any software on my router, and have no idea how I could do that.
Thanks in advance for any first-hand knowledge. Anyone?
