Hello,
2 years ago I made the switch to Linux, and Solus was my first experience into the wonderful open source world. Gaming is my main use case, and Solus was the perfect choice for me as a beginner. It's difficult for me to put into words about why Solus just feels like home compared to literally anything else.
Though I will say in Q2 2022 when I was uncertain about the future of Solus, I did daily drive Fedora for a while. It was very rock solid and also felt like a good home. But it was missing that certain something that Solus has. I think I know what it is. It's not tied to a 6 month release cadence like Fedora, and is not a "fast moving" distro like Fedora or Arch. It's also not slow moving like Mint or Zorin OS.
The fact that I can just install it once and let it update over time and not go through a distro upgrade process is really nice. On Fedora or Arch I would always be tempted to update my system every day. On Solus, I'm not tempted to update every day because I know that I can comfortably wait once every week for goodies, and I can focus more easily on actually using my PC.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: Thank you for the incredibly rock solid and stable experience that Solus provides and I am happy to call it a home that I can stay on as a daily driver. You guys rock! 💟
