I installed a new SSD and new RAM.

I tried reinstalling Solus Plasma.

4.5 installation does not boot to the GUI.
4.5 installations boots to a black screen and then (after some time) shows error messages (see next post).

4.4 installation starts and boots to the GUI.
4.4 installs but after I do a system update and I reboot it shows similar messages.

Does anyone else experience this?

What other information do you need to find a fix? If willing.

Thank you!

I'm terribly sorry about posting error messages like this but I don't know how to save the logs.

edit: Photos were taken here and there. I didn't know what to focus on so I decided to focus on the error messages. Even those are incomplete. I apologize. : (

I can retake them if needed and focus wherever you tell me to focus.

For the record:

At the moment there are two SSDs in the computer, there is (the new) SSD 1 where I'm trying to install Solus and (the old) SSD 2 with Solus 4.4 installed and updated.

There are two RAM sticks in the computer.

edit: I have sucessfully installed Nobara Linux and Artix but not Endeavour.

How did you create the USB?

[deleted] It's a Ventoy stick. I created it a long time ago.

Roger! I'll .. do this now.

It works! It works! I'm running 4.5 now! IT'S SO! BEAUTIFUL!! \o/

How are you people so smart!? I've been trying to install a distro for hours, I thought the SSD or the RAM may be flawed or incompatible with my system. I had so many bad things happening to me lately and I thought that this is just another one, my heart was pounding so loud.

Alright, fair enough, Artix did install and did run smoothly (and I managed to run a game as well) but it seemed so bloated. I was already suffering from Solus withdrawal. I had shivers.

Thank you @[deleted]! Thank you for helping me!! I would kiss your feet if I would be close to you right now, like a medieval peasant kisses his lord's feet! that's how happy I am right now. : )

how do I do the vantoy update? my ventoy install is old and is giving me trouble as well. thank you gents.

          • [deleted]

brent You download Ventoy and perform the update from the application.

          • [deleted]

          Hello @brent!

          Instructions are here: https://www.ventoy.net/en/doc_linux_webui.html.

But maybe it's easier if I tell you:

          1. You go here: https://www.ventoy.net/en/download.html.
          2. You download the version for Linux.
          3. You unarchive the file that you have just downloaded.
          4. You open a terminal inside the folder that you have just unarchived.
          5. Make sure you have the Ventoy drive inserted and mounted.
          6. You run: sudo bash VentoyWeb.sh.
          7. You open http://127.0.0.1:24680 inside an internet browser.
          8. You select the relevant drive and click Update.

          I hope it helped.

[deleted] went from 10.19 to 10.96 easily

your commands were FLAWLESS (and echoed in the readme.)

            thank you sincerely, and @[deleted]
