followup:

ImageScan and Epson printer utility I believe are both in repo. Try them. I think epsonscan2 is valuable to you as well.

if you go 0-3 with these installs...

...the top two entries lead to rpm/deb/and targz files. grab the targz, uncompress it. install it yourself following by running the /.sh file or install file. It's usually messy and weird, but I've had success before.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try them in February when I go to my mother's house. I will let you know if I am successful.
Kind regards

emmerich Epson Stylus photo RX520 drivers are in epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package. Make sure to install that too.

a month later

Dear all,
I tried to install the printer. The Scanner mode is ok but not the printer function.
First I installed the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package. and I select the good drivers.

Then I tried flatpak but the software did not detect the printer.
Then I tried to install the targz files but I am not informaticien and many errors occurs.
Now I am a little lost. Could you please help me to try to communicate with the printer? Thanks in advance.

How can I find this ppd file ?
Thanks in advance for your answer

emmerich Then I tried to install the targz files but I am not informaticien and many errors occurs

      1) Plan A: try it again, with the CLI instructions from the manufacturer. unpack the tarball, navigate (cd) to the directory with the tarball folder, read the README, run the .sh or whatever it asks you to do

      2) Plan B: install the epson2 program for flatpak for the hell of it. There is no reason you should have a funcioning scanner but not a printer. But axios is right you need the driver.

      3) Plan C: the great FAKEOUT. Install more epson drivers from repo. Reboot. If your driver is not in SOlus's pick driver box then select a number above or below your model and print a test page. It might work, too.

there's more but those are the first things I would do if no printer.

I found the ppd file from the targz files. I use the button install PPD but it still does not work.

regarding plan B, epson2 does not find the printer

emmerich algent is right, if Solus has them you should see them. reboot.
Are you talking solus's button or manufacturer button?
don't use PPD, use "search for drivers:

if you rebooted you should see your drivers (solus has them) in that list

whats scary is all the cups nonsense under Nom.

emmerich well trash plan B, your scanner worked without the epson scanner program you said.
(ps---it wlll find yr scanner after about 4 tries---normal)

for plan A when I follow the procedure I have:

emmerich that's ok you don't need it. solus has your drivers under 'search for drivers'

If I click on search button solus does not find the ppd file. I have to select it on the data base

I have already reboot the computer

Uhh that was interesting try changing your Nom to RX520 and see if it works
But first select your printer from Database

Is that way you see it brent?
            Sorry wasnt trying butt in...

              Axios
When I click on the search button they find it as generic even the epson drivers have been installed

The second printer (hp) is on my network but not concern with my issue

emmerich Change the cups-brf-Printer Name to RX520
After I did that it popped up and said printer added.
I dont have that printer but looks like it was added properly (So I hope it works)
For some reason a search doesnt add proper printer.

                Shrugs

Axios this is where a mapped IP address will force the cups into the Epson. Then we'll have two epsons recgnized. unless it morphs.

I don't have CUPs in my printer dialogue..

what's disturbing here is this is the 4th case of" Solus Has the Drivers and Still Won't See the Printer and/or Let it Print" I've seen in lately. A disturbing trend to me that someone should look into. If that;s the case here.

get rid of that 970 driver. what is that?

you can see on the dialogue box Solus/somebody has the escpr installed.....there is no reason the printer shouldn't print....
....OP I can see your frustration. I've seen a lot of this lately. unless the escpr drivers are for the flatbed and not the printer??

back to plan A then. epson is telling you to run the /configure file and not the .sh?

edit: seen no evidence you've tried to use a comparable model (plan C)
