Hello World! ;-)
My name is Ashley Barz.
My only Dev experience is with College Linux in 2004 as a package maintainer. I used a tool named 'emerde' which made Slackware compatible packages compiled specifically for College Linux from Gentoo's Portage Sources.
After losing touch with the dev team and moving to Cornwall, Ontario, I attended St Lawrence College, to study and become a Registered Nurse. Around this time, Facebook was released.
After seeing some freesoftware all star on it, I took the chance and reached out and they without hesitation added me as a friend. :-)
I explained that I had read their articles in Linux Format magazine on my breaks and at home and appreciated his musical interests.
However, do to mental health setback we were unable to stay in contact.
This was one of the last times I would participate with any community members in or on forums until my father became ill with pulmonary fibrosis.
After having a relapse several years later I posted on linuxquestions as this username oldstinkyfish or possibly linuxeatswindows. The ladder being my IRC handle.
What I posted is that "I believe that Richard Stallman is in fact Moses and the GPL copy left is a representation in essence of the ten commandments"
I went into some detail and "code" however in my delusional state, I'm not sure whether it made much sense and wasn't all that easy to understand the message I was trying to relay at the time.
What I realized also later on as the years went by is that this post was locked, and some community members defended my honour. These fellas are the members of Bad Voltage Podcast.
Which brings me to today...
I recently relapsed after suffering from Pulmonary Edema from the same hereditary disease which my father passed from during which I posted on linuxquestions. Too which his brother my Uncle John Ward recently passed from.
This and a med change caused me to have several psychotic breaks. Solus OS Harmony was my refuge.
Solus OS is the leader in its product with cutting edged technology, ease of use, compatibly and more, it's what I would decide to use for purposes.
As someone who has benefited from the power of technology, I believe in the importance of giving back to the community. This is why I support initiatives that promote access to technology and digital literacy, particularly for those who may face similar challenges as I did.
Providing opportunities for others to learn and grow, we can empower them to overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals.
In conclusion, my experiences have shown me that with hard work, determination, and the right tools, anyone can succeed. That freesoftware isn't just free as in free beer but as in free speech and freedoms! I hope that my story will inspire others to embrace their challenges and pursue their passions, just as I have done.
Thanks to the Solus OS team and community and all the free software leaders and future members.
Signed,
Ash
