Hey folks,
Thanks to everyone who chimed in on the Open Collective perks discussion. We appreciate your feedback and opinions, both supportive and critical. Your voices are essential in helping us to keep delivering what backers truly value.
Based on your feedback, and after team discussion, we will be implementing the following perks for our OC supporters. We are aiming to provide what we can realistically deliver reliably, and what the majority of our backers have voiced support for. We are focusing on providing more ISOs, which we can now generate reliably and quickly.
These are the changes between the old and new perks:
- Backers ($1): No change
- Release Testers ($3):
Old: "Early access to news/updates, Access to testing ISOs the week of Release"
New: Release Candidate (RC) ISOs for all editions. This includes Budgie, Plasma, Gnome and XFCE.
Difference: No change to ISO access.
- Beta Testers ($10):
Old: "Early access to news/updates, Access to testing ISOs the week of Release, Access to weekly “snapshot” ISO for the Budgie Edition."
New: Snapshot ISOs for all editions monthly, as well as RC ISOs for all editions.
Differences: Monthly ISOs for all editions in the new perk vs Weekly ISOs for Budgie only in the old.
12 more ISOs every year (with the monthlies) for 3x the price vs the new Release Testers tier.
- Crew ($25):
Old: "Early access to news/updates, Access to testing ISOs the week of Release, Access to weekly “snapshot” ISOs for all editions"
New: Snapshot ISOs for all editions every sync (usually weekly), as well as RC ISOs for all editions.
Differences: No difference in amount of ISOs between the old and new perks.
4x the ISOs vs. Beta Testers for 2.5x the price in the new perks.
Note: For Release Candidate ISOs, there may be more than one RC ISO per release, as needs dictate. They will be provided when released, so backers will not necessarily be limited to RCs the week of Release.
We will have at least one more Release Candidate ISO for 4.5. If you want to get access to it, now's a good time to become a backer. We will be releasing 4.5 to the public in the near future, but No ETAs ™.
We thank everyone who has supported us, either with money through Open Collective, or by the multiple other ways people contribute to Solus - application updates, bug reports, testing pre-release ISOs, spreading news in other communities, and providing us feedback. We hope you appreciate the new perks.
